Central Park Coins Done/Pinwheel Sampler Basted

I got the binding done on this little baby quilt a few weeks ago but never blogged about it. I used flannel for the backing and binding. This was the first time using flannel - I didn't have any issues with the quilting of it but I thought hand stitching the binding on was a bit of pain.

I finally got around to pinning my pinwheel sampler quilt. My husband took the boys fishing today so I had 2 hours to myself. Which for the past 5 weeks I have only gotten 5 minutes to myself on the drive from the sitters to work so it was nice and calming to be touching fabric again.. Now to find the time to quilt between work, football practice, soccer practice and games.

Still no sewing going on

What a crazy few weeks we have had. On my husbands first day off in a week he listened to his nagging wife and trimmed some of our trees. Unfortunately he fell out of the tree and broke his leg in 2 spots and had to have surgery. So for the last 2 weeks he was been going crazy sitting in a chair. He is healing good but will be down for a few months yet. Then last week we got 15 inches of rain in one night and once again our basement got water. So out came the carpet and padding and gone went my sewing area. Once my husband is up and moving we will tile the whole basement and be done with carpet. We were lucky, alot of people got up to 5 feet in their basements. So no new photos to show. I have been slowly working on binding some quilts and working on my hexagon stocking. 4 hours of football practice this week so maybe some progress to report this weekend on those.

Not much quilting going on around here

I have not made any progress on my WIPs. My carpel tunnel has been acting up really bad the last two weeks so I have been trying to rest my arm as much as possible.
Above is my Verna Charming Stars (pattern can be found on Moda Bakeshop) that I completed a few weeks ago. I also made a quilt top out of this pattern. I am hoping my hand will be better next week so I can finally pin the Verna Pinwheel Sampler and start to quilt it. My dog and cat were all over the tablerunner when I was trying to shoot photos. Say hi to Bells :)

I was itching to get in front of my sewing machine last night so I started working on my 12 Days of Christmas tree skirt. I am doing it is the Disappearing 9-patch pattern. Luckily I had this already cut out before my hand started acting up. Here is my progress as I chain stitched them to the final. I was able to sneak downstairs to piece a few more this morning! I am hoping to have the top done this weekend if the boys will cooperate. Maybe I can tempt them with movie night - 2 hours of no interruptions.

Quilt Barns

We have been on a few weekend trips this summer and have been lucky enough to spot some quilt barns. The one above is in New Sharon, IA.

The rest are from around the Keokuk area. My oldest son was having a fit that we would stop for two seconds and take photos.

Another finish

I got the binding done on this quilt Monday while the boys fished. One down about 20 more to go. I started 2 more baby quilts on Sunday. One is all flannel and not something I am completely thrilled about yet - am hoping the quilting will make me like it more. The other is a coin using Central Park and I am going to back it in flannel. These will be my first attempts at flannel, we'll see if I like it or not.
