WIP Wendesday

I finally got my Central Park quilt done. It has been hanging in my bedroom since May with the binding left to do.
I also for the binding sewn on my Verna Dresden mini but I have not taken final photos yet.

Back in October I went out east to visit family. I promised my nephew that I would make him a quilt for his stuffed dog and mail it to him. For 3 years old he had a wonderful grasp on how the mail worked. I finally found time this weekend to start the quilt but plan on saving it until Christmas so I can see him open it. He has a favorite stuffed dog, which is kind of sad since he is allergic to them, so I had some doggy material and used that.
I tried something different and stitched 'woof' throughout the quilt. Not to bad for my first time doing words.

WIP
1. Sew binding on doggy quilt
2. Sew binding on tumber runner
3. Sew binding on Central Park bowtie baby quilt
4. Quilt and bind Verna Charming Stars quilt
5. Make 3 wine bottle covers - got material cut out for one

Verna Pinwheel Sampler is finally done!!!

The red and brown pinwheel is my favorite block. I would love to do a whole quilt of these.
I finally got the binding done on my sampler quilt. It went alot faster than I thought. I have barely touched my sewing machine in the past month. I think I hit a wall on my quilting. I am working on finishing up all of my projects so I can start 2012 all fresh and new. I got my Christmas stockings and snowmen embroideries done (I will post photos once I have taken them). I have been binding my Verna Dresden mini in the mornings while waiting for the bus. I started binding my Central Park quilt that has been hanging over my bed since May (when I pulled it off the rod the other night my husband commented that he thought it was already done - never mind the threads hanging out all over). I do have to make 2 doll quilts for my niece and nephew for Xmas, but that should be the extent of new projects for awhile.

WIP Wendesday

I had a very productive week. I was able to take 2 days off of work and spend some time in my studio. I got the binding completed on my bowtie runner (which is now on my dresser), the Charming Stars runner, a scrap mini quilt made with leftover pieces from a twister wall hanging I made last fall, got the hangers and binding sewn on my 5 snowman embroidery wall hangings (I just need to hand sew them - which I have been working in the mornings while we wait at the bus stop).

Then I started 2 new projects - one completed!! I used scraps from 12 Days of Christmas and Cotton Way's Abundantly Blessed and made this tablerunner. This one a fun quilt as you go - no binding pattern. Went very quickly. The petals are raw edged sewn on the charms, so when you wash it they get all crinkly and ragged. Love it!
Then I used Verna scraps and made this 12 inch dresden plate mini quilt. I just have to bind it. I did start the binding on my Verna Charming Stars quilt - if I keep doing a little each night it might be done next week!

WIP Wendesday

Soccer practice was canceled tonight, so I had time to sew the binding on my Verna Pinwheel Sampler quilt. Now to just do the handsewing on the binding. It might be spring before it gets done with how much I hate to do binding. I love how it turned out. I tried loop quilting on it again - it turned out better than my first attempt - Flowers of Hope.

These are my Central Park bow tie sample blocks. I was looking for a pattern to use up my scraps - once I opened my Simplicity book I knew this was the one to try.

These embroidery snowmen are teachers gifts. I ordered quilt hangers for them, so once they arrive I will make finish them off.
These are just a sampling of my projects. See last post for full list.

Central Park Coins Done/Pinwheel Sampler Basted

I got the binding done on this little baby quilt a few weeks ago but never blogged about it. I used flannel for the backing and binding. This was the first time using flannel - I didn't have any issues with the quilting of it but I thought hand stitching the binding on was a bit of pain.

I finally got around to pinning my pinwheel sampler quilt. My husband took the boys fishing today so I had 2 hours to myself. Which for the past 5 weeks I have only gotten 5 minutes to myself on the drive from the sitters to work so it was nice and calming to be touching fabric again.. Now to find the time to quilt between work, football practice, soccer practice and games.

Still no sewing going on

What a crazy few weeks we have had. On my husbands first day off in a week he listened to his nagging wife and trimmed some of our trees. Unfortunately he fell out of the tree and broke his leg in 2 spots and had to have surgery. So for the last 2 weeks he was been going crazy sitting in a chair. He is healing good but will be down for a few months yet. Then last week we got 15 inches of rain in one night and once again our basement got water. So out came the carpet and padding and gone went my sewing area. Once my husband is up and moving we will tile the whole basement and be done with carpet. We were lucky, alot of people got up to 5 feet in their basements. So no new photos to show. I have been slowly working on binding some quilts and working on my hexagon stocking. 4 hours of football practice this week so maybe some progress to report this weekend on those.
